• Ensure the receipt and processing of cases of irregularities (related to contractual partners, visa procedures, etc.) reported via the EDA whistleblowing platform
• Examine facts; participate in informal inquiries and administrative investigations
• Advise EDA organizational units in the area of compliance (conflicts of interest, standards of conduct, ethics, etc.)
• Provide customer-friendly legal advice that is appropriate in terms of time, level, and recipient in the areas of contracts, procurement, and the fundamentals of international cooperation, and conduct awareness and training courses at home and abroad
• Participate in interdepartmental and international expert committees and working groups responsible for combating corruption
• Responsible for controlling/reporting in the area of irregularities, preparation of the cockpit for the Department Head and the EDA Directorate

What makes you unique

• Master in Law
• Experience in the field of compliance or in a reporting office for irregularities
• Experience within the administration or in the private sector in advising in the field of contract law and/or procurement law
• If possible, good knowledge of the Federal Administration
• Negotiation skills and resilience
• Knowledge of criminal, administrative, and civil law as well as procedures, especially criminal and administrative procedures
• Very good knowledge of two official languages and English
• Very good knowledge in using IT tools (Excel etc.) and interest in digitalization

In a nutshell

Jurist in the EDA Compliance Office (60 %) and in the Section Contract Law (40 %), Department Contracts, Procurement, Compliance, GS-EDA. As a jurist in the EDA Compliance Office, you are responsible for receiving and processing cases of violations and irregularities reported by EDA employees, partners, or third parties. Furthermore, you support and advise all EDA organizational units on all legal questions related to contracts and procurement as well as the fundamentals of international cooperation.

The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (EDA) coordinates and shapes Swiss foreign policy on behalf of the Federal Council, safeguards the interests of the country, and promotes Swiss values.

The General Secretariat (GS-EDA) supports and advises the Head of the Department in his daily work as a staff unit. It prepares matters for Parliament and the Federal Council and informs the public about the activities of the Department. It also supports contract management in the EDA, runs the Compliance Office, and checks the effectiveness of risk management, controls, as well as leadership and monitoring processes. Furthermore, it ensures equal opportunity in the EDA and handles all historical questions concerning the Department. Subordinate to the General Secretariat is also Präsenz Schweiz, which implements the Federal Council's strategy for the national communication of Switzerland.
