What you can contribute

• Manage innovation-related themes within the DDPS, ensure the implementation and development of innovation governance within the department in collaboration with all constituent offices
• Act as responsible person for the management of innovation within the DDPS General Secretariat, manage corresponding processes and the bodies responsible for ideas and challenges, train staff
• Promote innovation within the DDPS and the SG-DDPS, representing its interests in departmental bodies as well as at the Confederation level
• Lead studies and working groups on mandates, affairs, and political issues at the department or office level, focusing on main projects, planning, controlling, digitalization, and security of the DDPS
• Conduct projects; analyze, process, and verify complex files; anticipate the most significant developments and use them to develop action plans and decision bases

What makes you unique

• Degree from a university of applied sciences in the field of innovation, digitalization, economics, politics, or equivalent training
• Training and experience in the field of innovation
• Experience with the political processes of the Confederation and interest in political texts and content
• Good knowledge of the fields of digitalization, controlling, strategy, and security
• Experience in project management and the preparation of reports and decision bases
• Excellent written and oral expression and good knowledge of at least a second official language and, ideally, passive knowledge of a third

In this key role, you will take care of the strategic foundations and the continuous development of innovation. You will promote the innovation capacity of the staff, corporate culture, and multidisciplinary collaboration and will be the linchpin for the implementation of innovations and ideas.
Through your understanding of complex processes and interdependencies, you will ensure that the department is provided with solid and well-founded decision bases for its political affairs and will put your structured working method at the service of the office and department management.

The DDPS General Secretariat is the staff body of the department. It assists the head of the department as a member of the Federal Council and in the conduct of the department. The SG DDPS develops the political strategy and directives intended for the administrative units, supports and controls their implementation. It also ensures planning, control, and coordination at the departmental level in the cross-cutting areas of personnel, finance, law, and IT, but also in the field of security policy or in the field of spatial planning and the environment.
