Our small and dedicated team is looking for reinforcement!

VeruA App is a SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) developed by VeruA AG, which is aimed at freelance nursing professionals and Spitex organizations. VeruA App is a comprehensive application that is continuously adapted to the changes in the healthcare system in German- and French-speaking Switzerland.

We are looking for you immediately or by arrangement as a dedicated personality in the role of

Software Engineer – PHP Backend Development (60% - 100%)

Your profile:

• Degree in computer science or comparable training
• 5+ years of experience in PHP development with package management (Composer) and familiarity with standards (PSR)
• Confident handling of object-oriented programming methods and design patterns
• Knowledge of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and testing frameworks such as PHPUnit
• Sound knowledge of the JavaScript (ES6+) programming language
• Confident handling of relational databases (MariaDB) and ability to optimize structures and queries, as well as understanding of database management techniques
• Confident handling of Posix/Unix command line (CLI – Bash, Fish, Zsh)
• Experience with source code management, branching, and release management (git)
• Excellent communication skills in German and English
• Initiative, accuracy, and high problem-solving competence
• Independent way of working, maker mentality, structured work processes, personal responsibility, quick comprehension, and reliability
• High social competence and excellent communication skills when dealing with colleagues and partners.

Your tasks:

• Modernization and refactoring of the 15-year-old codebase
• Optimization of the database connection and queries
• Introduction of tests and stability assurance
• Realization of software components and interfaces
• Creation of technical documentation

Desirable, but not a requirement:

• Knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3
• Practical experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with the introduction of coding standards and tools such as PHP-CS-Fixer
• Use of GNU/Linux
