This is the contribution you can make

• Leading the innovation field of the VBS and ensuring the implementation and further development of the VBS innovation governance in cooperation with all offices of the department
• Ensuring innovation management in the GS-VBS as the office's innovation officer, leading the corresponding processes and committees within the framework of ideas and challenges, and empowering employees
• Promoting the innovation field in the VBS as well as in the GS-VBS and representing interests in committees within the department as well as at the federal level
• Leading work and working groups on political mandates, business matters, and issues at the department and office level with a focus on top projects, planning, controlling, digitalization, and VBS security
• Leading projects, analyzing, processing, and reviewing complex issues, forecasting relevant developments, and deriving bases for action and decision-making

What makes you unique

• University degree in the field of innovation, digitalization, economics, politics, or comparable training
• Education and experience in the subject area of innovation
• Good knowledge in the subject areas of digitalization, strategy, and governance
• Experience in the area of political processes at the federal level as well as interest in political texts / content
• Experience in project management and the preparation of reports and decision-making bases
• Excellent written and oral expression as well as good knowledge of at least a second official language and, if possible, passive knowledge of a third official language

In this key role, you ensure the strategic foundations as well as the permanent further development of the innovation subject area. You promote the innovative capacity of the employees and the culture required for this, ensure cross-departmental cooperation, and are the driving force for the implementation of innovations and ideas.
With your understanding of complex connections and processes, you ensure sound and high-quality decision-making bases and documents within the framework of the department's political business and support the office and department management with your structured way of working.

The GS-VBS is the actual staff organization of the department. It supports the head of the department as a member of the Federal Council as well as in the management of the department. The GS-VBS develops the political strategy as well as specifications for the administrative units and supports and monitors their implementation. Furthermore, it ensures planning, controlling, and coordination at the department level in the cross-sectional areas of personnel, finance, law, and informatics, but also in security policy or in the area of space and environment.
