What you can contribute

• Contribute to the conduct of the army by participating in its long-term development and monitoring the military-strategic situation
• Develop strategic and decision-making bases concerning the development of the Groupement Défense, particularly in the areas of business development and strategic transformation
• Analyze data and conclusions drawn from strategy controlling and risk management and transpose them into concrete recommendations
• Coordinate and lead, at the office level, interdisciplinary working groups bringing together eminent specialists and stakeholders
• Support and advise office and division managers in the development, coordination, and implementation of their sectoral or global strategies

What makes you unique

• Degree from a university or a university of applied sciences or equivalent training
• Excellent analytical and conceptual skills, network thinking, and strategic reflection
• Experience in the strategic work process, whether in analysis, planning, alignment, implementation, or controlling
• Ability to effectively manage complex stakeholder profiles, sometimes with diverging interests
• Knowledge of the processes and internal structures of the Confederation or, ideally, training as a general staff officer or senior officer
• Very good active knowledge in at least a second official language (level B2) and in English (minimum level B2)

In a few words

The Stratégie et gouvernance Défense team defines the long-term orientation of the Groupement Défense with a view to strengthening Switzerland's defense capability. We create strategic decision-making bases for the conduct of the army and thus help to effectively manage the development of the Groupement as a whole. Our ambition is not only to develop a strategy, but also to guarantee organizational efficiency: clearly established priorities, coherent governance, and systematic implementation.
As a member of the team, you will work on crucial strategic issues relating to both military development and business development. You will combine depth of analysis and pragmatism, and advance files with full autonomy. Furthermore, you will coordinate inter-organizational projects, collaborate with experienced stakeholders, and ensure the consistency of strategic initiatives. The État-major de l'armée (EM A) supports the Chief of the Army in its activities of conducting the Defense departmental domain and ensures global military planning as well as the development of the Swiss Army as a whole. It develops strategic bases, the development of the armed forces, and the planning of the army and armaments, in accordance with political directives, and assumes tasks in the context of international security. The conduct, steering, and coordination of all transversal domains (personnel, finance, real estate) also fall within its competence.
