Your contribution

• Manage the International and National Affairs (INA) section from personnel, technical, organizational, and financial perspectives
• Strategically manage the national and international positioning of the UST and Switzerland in the data and statistics sector
• Coordinate collaboration with federal services, Cantons, international organizations, and other partner institutions
• Conduct and manage strategic dossiers and negotiations at national and international levels
• Further develop the International Affairs, International Cooperation, National Affairs, Back Office Management, and events sectors
• Provide advice to the management and the Head of the External Relations and Communication division on political, institutional, and strategic issues

What distinguishes you

• University degree (master's or equivalent), preferably in political science, international relations, social sciences, economics, law, or a related field
• Several years of leadership and management experience in a political, administrative, or international context
• Proven experience in the strategic management and development of organizational units and complex programs
• Strong skills in negotiation, communication, and interest protection at national and international levels
• Willingness to undertake regular business travel in Switzerland and abroad
• Active knowledge of two official languages and excellent knowledge of English

The Federal Statistical Office (UST) is the national competence center for public statistics and the hub of the Swiss data ecosystem. It produces statistical information, is committed to harmonized data through national data management, and uses data science methods to extract further information from data. In this way, the UST contributes to shaping public opinion by providing an important contribution to modern democratic governance.

Complementary information

The Federal Statistical Office actively contributes to the definition of national and international policy regarding data and statistics and represents the interests of Switzerland in important national and international bodies. As Head of the International and National Affairs section, you will lead a multifaceted organizational unit and, together with the Head of the External Relations and Communication division, define the positioning of the UST towards authorities, international organizations, partner institutions, and other interest groups. In this way, you will contribute directly to the further development of the Swiss public data and statistical system, to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and to the creation of the new External Relations and Communication division, with particular attention to the national coordination and networking of the UST.
