Oester Messtechnik GmbH is a young, dynamic company based in Thun. Our innovative team specializes in the acquisition and processing of spatial data as well as measurement data in the areas of landfill and biogas.

Methane emissions from landfills and biogas plants are not only relevant to safety, but also have a major impact on the climate. We localize and quantify these emissions and thus provide our customers with important decision-making bases – also with regard to climate protection.

Your tasks as Responsible for ICT

Infrastructure and data sovereignty

You maintain our tools for daily use. Open-source software, self-hosted servers and sovereignty over our data are particularly important to us.

Devices and systems

You set up new devices, coordinate updates, backups and the maintenance of our diverse portfolio: UNIFI network, Mac laptops, Android tablets, Linux containers (based on Proxmox), Synology servers, PostgreSQL/PostGIS databases and Grafana for data visualization as well as LTE routers or LoRa antennas.

Conception and innovation

You also support us in conceptual work and in the construction of test environments to expand our measurement database (PostgreSQL) or in data storage and visualization from IoT data sources.

Your role as a Measurement Technician

The ICT responsibility and the field work complement each other ideally: You consciously switch between maintaining our systems in the office and data collection on site – this keeps your everyday life versatile and practical.

After an induction period, you will also independently plan and carry out measurement campaigns at old landfill sites, in operating landfills and on biogas plants. We usually travel in pairs and support you in building up your gas-specific knowledge. You will learn how to handle the numerous measuring devices with us from the ground up.

The measurement data collected in the field all have a spatial reference. They are recorded directly in the GIS (QField) and subsequently processed in the office with QGIS. This enables us to have central data storage and semi-automated evaluation.

Your profile

• You have completed a degree or a solid basic training in the ICT field and have professional experience.
• You bring technical understanding for our infrastructure and are ready to familiarize yourself with our specific environment.
• GIS knowledge (QGIS) is an advantage, but not a must.
• You write German with stylistic confidence and do not shy away from communicating in French.
• You like being outdoors – sometimes at a landfill or biogas plant – and see field work as a meaningful balance to everyday office life.
• You are ready to actively participate in field work, data evaluation and reporting in our small team.
• You possess a driver's license.
• You are motivated to dive into the world of landfill and biogas and to take on responsibility.
