Safe grid operation begins with well-prepared people. In this leadership position, you and your team will ensure that system operation employees are optimally trained, that the right tools are available, and that important processes and interfaces function reliably.

As Head of Operational Training & Support, you will lead a team of eight people distributed across three sites. You are directly integrated into the real-time operation of the system and make an important contribution to ensuring that the Swiss transmission grid can be operated safely and reliably even in demanding situations.

Your varied range of tasks is oriented towards the needs of system operation and includes notably:

• The direction and development of your team as well as creating the framework conditions for high quality, great autonomy, and good collaboration
• The development, organization, and implementation of training for internal and external system operation employees in Swissgrid's own simulators
• Ensuring compliance, traceability, documentation, and quality control of personnel training and certifications in real time in accordance with the sector's regulatory requirements
• The continuous development of the Simulation Center and the training portfolio, as well as the development and implementation of training programs for system operation employees
• Support in the analysis of events occurring in system operation and, consequently, in the development or improvement of the relevant processes
• The prospective improvement and development of concepts and processes around system operation, notably through project work (mandate, project management, collaboration)
• The coordination of operational interfaces with power plant operators, distribution system operators, and foreign transmission system operators, including responsibility for the corresponding technical contracts and representing Swissgrid in national and international committees and working groups

You are a leadership personality with an entrepreneurial spirit, who likes to take responsibility, quickly understands complex contexts, and keeps an overview even with many parallel subjects. You combine strategic thinking with a strong orientation towards implementation and know how to reconcile different interests to achieve viable solutions. You possess the following qualifications:

• University or university of applied sciences degree, preferably in a technical or economic field
• Several years of experience in the energy sector, ideally with a vision of the different stages of the value chain and good knowledge of the different areas of activity of a transmission system operator
• Management experience and pleasure in developing employees, providing direction, and delegating responsibilities
• Great capacity to quickly grasp new subjects and complex contexts, to recognize dependencies, and to derive pragmatic solutions
• A taste for a versatile environment and for advancing different subjects simultaneously
• Excellent communication skills, including at high hierarchical levels as well as in exchange with the board of directors and supervisory authorities
• Mastery of German with ease in negotiation and style, very good knowledge of English; French and Italian are a plus

The Operational Training & Support team supports Swissgrid Control in the safe and reliable operation of the Swiss transmission grid. At the Simulation Center, the team trains Swissgrid employees and organizes, notably, annual training for the grid reinstatement with Swiss distribution system operators.

Another important task is the coordination of contractual and operational interfaces between Swissgrid and power plant operators, distribution system operators, as well as foreign transmission system operators.
