You ensure reliable platform operation, manage the entire lifecycle of the physical server infrastructure, and support internal customers with cloud migrations. In addition, you improve and automate operational processes.

For a client in the Bern area, we are looking for an experienced personality for the operation and further development of an on-premises cloud platform based on VMware as well as compute, SAN, and storage infrastructures.
You ensure reliable platform operation, manage the entire lifecycle of the physical server infrastructure, and support internal customers with cloud migrations. In addition, you improve and automate operational processes.

Tasks:

• Operation and further development of the on-premises cloud platform with VMware vSphere 8, ESXi, and VMware Cloud Foundation
• Responsibility for the hardware lifecycle from procurement, inventory, and provisioning to replacement, repair, and disposal
• Cooperation with manufacturers and service partners
• Support of internal customers in migration projects, especially in the environment of EVS and AWS
• Identification and implementation of improvements and automations in operational processes
• Regular assumption of on-call services

Experiences:

• Completed training in computer science
• Sound knowledge in VMware vSphere, ESXi, VMware Cloud Foundation, and VMware Aria Automation
• Sound knowledge in datacenter infrastructures with compute, SAN, and storage
• Practical experience in hardware lifecycle management
• Experience with agile processes and tools as well as an independent, reliable way of working
• Knowledge in PowerShell, JavaScript, or REST APIs for automation of operational tasks is an advantage
• Current VMware certifications in the area of Data Center Virtualization, for example VCP or VCAP, are an advantage
• Team-oriented personality with enjoyment in the operation and further development of complex infrastructures
• Proficient English skills in speaking and writing; German skills are an advantage
