• Enable the Chief of the Army and the Army Leadership with the strategic management of the long-term development of the Defence Group. Represent the Head of Strategy, Steering and Transformation in all matters in their absence
• Be responsible for the decision-making bases for the further development of the Group V in the areas of strategy, organizational development and transformation
• Coordinate the organizational development of the Defence Group and ensure its coherence with the strategic direction
• Further develop and anchor the governance of the Defence Group in an orientation towards strategy
• Lead an experienced team and coordinate interdisciplinary working groups with experts and stakeholders at the highest management level
• Support and advise Senior Management in the development, coordination and implementation of sub- and functional strategies

What makes you unique

• University or university of applied sciences degree or equivalent training
• Pronounced analytical and conceptual skills as well as networked and strategic thinking abilities
• Many years of experience in strategy, organizational development or transformation, ideally along the entire strategy cycle -- from analysis and planning to alignment, implementation and controlling
• Pronounced consulting competence and the ability to effectively navigate complex stakeholder landscapes with partially diverging interests
• Knowledge of federal internal processes and structures or training as a General Staff or Staff Officer are an advantage
• Very good active knowledge in at least one second official language (B2) as well as English at least B2

In a nutshell

The Strategy and Governance V team shapes the long-term direction of Group V to strengthen the defense capability of Switzerland. We create strategic decision-making bases for the Chief of the Army and the Army Leadership and support them in managing the development of the group as a whole. Our aim is to translate strategy into organizational impact -- through clear priorities, coherent governance and consistent implementation.

As Head of the Team, you are responsible for central strategic issues at the interface of military and organizational development. You advise Senior Management, coordinate cross-organizational projects and ensure the coherence of organizational development. We are looking for an upright, intellectually curious personality who combines analytical depth with pragmatic implementation, takes responsibility and wants to achieve impact.

The Army Staff (A Stab) supports the Chief of the Army in the leadership of the Defence Department area and is responsible for the overall military planning and development of the Swiss Army. Here, in accordance with political specifications, the strategic foundations, the development of the armed forces and the army and armament planning are developed, and tasks in the international security context are performed. The leadership, steering and coordination of all cross-cutting areas (Personnel, Finance, Real Estate) also fall within the responsibility of the Army Staff.
