Head of Capacity and Congestion Management (80-100%)

Ensure electricity in Switzerland

You ensure that the capacities of the Swiss high-voltage grid are used optimally - in Switzerland and in the European grid. As a driving force in capacity and congestion management, you develop solutions that intelligently link the market and the grid, reconciling technical and economic requirements. Your tasks include in particular:

• The management and development of the Capacity & Congestion Management team as well as ensuring the sustainable development of the organization, processes and skills.
• Anticipating regulatory, market and operational changes as well as defining sustainable solutions for market, operational and cross-border planning.

Ensuring efficient and robust processes through an end-to-end understanding of capacity and congestion management across the entire organization, as well as continuous performance monitoring and constant development.

• Active participation in national and European collaboration as well as representing the interests of Swissgrid to authorities, transmission system operators and market partners.
• Effective direction of employees and resources through employee development, the creation of a culture of trust and performance-oriented, as well as ensuring efficient management of budget, performance and risks.

What makes your difference

You combine strong analytical and conceptual skills with a confident presence, a sense of negotiation and operational-strategic thinking. You communicate complex topics in an understandable manner, initiate changes independently and create a motivating work environment. Furthermore, you possess:

• A master's degree in electrical engineering, economics or in a scientific discipline, ideally supplemented by training in political economy
• 6 to 10 years of relevant professional experience, notably in electricity trading, power plant operation or operational grid management
• In-depth knowledge of national and international energy markets as well as regulatory and legal frameworks
• Deep expertise in congestion management and balancing groups as well as in operational planning and a very good understanding of the interaction between market and grid operation

Experience in directing an organizational unit or additional training in personnel management

• Experience in negotiation with international partners and authorities as well as strong competence in conflict management and moderation
• Fluency in German and English as well as advanced knowledge of French
