Ensuring electricity in Switzerland

In this exciting position, you and your team are responsible for the conceptual development of the framework conditions of the Swiss and European electricity markets. To this end, you develop and optimize products in the field of frequency regulation and flexibility markets, so that Swissgrid can guarantee safe grid operation at all times in the future. Furthermore, you assume the following tasks:

• Direction and development of the team as well as creating a motivating environment for performance, innovation, and collaboration
• Design of the evolution of TSO products and markets as well as initiation and management of strategically relevant projects
• Development of the vision for the frequency regulation of the future and elaboration of concrete solutions for an electricity market and grid operation in transition
• Early detection of technological, political, and regulatory trends as well as translation of these evolutions into sustainable strategies and implementation measures
• Exploitation and orchestration of flexibility in the energy system, from central and decentralized resources to new solutions for the modified Swiss production mix
• Strengthening national and international cooperation as well as representing Swissgrid to distribution system operators, power plants, flexibility providers, transmission system operators, and in relevant specialist committees

For this role, we are looking for a leader personality with excellent communication skills, a systematic ability for problem-solving and decision-making, as well as the faculty to create a motivating work environment. You bring the following elements:

• Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of the essential elements of the national and international electricity market
• Deep understanding of Swissgrid's operational processes and the impacts of regulatory requirements on these processes
• Excellent strategic and conceptual skills for a rapid and complete assessment of complex and multidisciplinary topics

Global vision and commitment to pragmatic solutions

• Communication skills adapted to the audience and convincing across different hierarchical levels
• Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships as well as effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to motivate others and to achieve set objectives together
• Detection of new opportunities and evolutions, autonomous formation of opinions, and rapid adaptation to new situations
• University degree, possibly with a doctorate, in electrical engineering or in economics/management as well as a good understanding of the complementary field
