The Criminal Department is responsible for combating crime in the Canton of Bern. It deals with serious crime, is responsible for cases of supra-regional importance and for offenses that require specialist and technical expertise. As a driving force in criminal police work, it sets priorities, shapes the professional direction and is a sought-after partner for judicial and police authorities at home and abroad.

Your tasks

• Personnel, strategic and operational leadership of an area with around 50 employees in the upper management and shaping the strategic direction
• Performing personnel, tactical and operational coordination and monitoring tasks
• Management of area-specific projects
• Ensuring the specialist development of the investigation-oriented Spezialfahndung 4
• Carrying out special assignments of the Head of the Criminal Department and undertaking deputy roles in the management team
• Performing on-call duties after completing the officer courses of the Schweizerisches Polizei-Institut

Your profile

• Completed legal Master's degree as well as experience in a comparable function
• Successful, multi-year leadership career
• Ideally practical experience in the management of judicial police investigation proceedings
• Quick comprehension, strong analytical thinking skills and a good sense of what is feasible
• Committed, willing-to-learn and innovative personality with high commitment, strong team orientation and great interest in criminal and security police matters
• Very good communication skills as well as good French language skills
• Role model function, confident appearance and lived social competence
