For the Staatsanwaltschaft Bern-Mittelland in Bern, we are looking for a Legal Secretary.

Your tasks

• Support the management of the Staatsanwaltschaft as well as the procedural management in conducting criminal investigations
• Make inquiries, draft applications and decrees within the framework of the preliminary proceedings, as well as prepare indictments and party submissions
• Assist in personal prosecution representation and draft internal notices of appeal
• Support the Strafbefehlsstaatsanwältinnen and the Strafbefehlsstaatsanwälte in the preparation of decisions (legal inquiries)
• Create reports and write minutes

• Attorney or Bernese notary patent
• Analytical and networked thinking
• Quick comprehension, structured and efficient way of working
• Assertiveness and perseverance
• Open and communicative personality
• Excellent German skills (written and spoken) and good French skills (B1)

The Staatsanwaltschaft is responsible for the enforcement of the state's right to prosecute. It leads the preliminary proceedings, prosecutes crimes within the framework of investigations, brings charges if necessary, and represents these charges in court. In less significant cases, it issues a Strafbefehl. Organizationally, the Staatsanwaltschaft of the Canton of Bern consists of the Generalstaatsanwaltschaft, three Staatsanwaltschaften for the entire cantonal territory (one Staatsanwaltschaft for the prosecution of economic offenses, one Staatsanwaltschaft for special tasks, and one Staatsanwaltschaft for juvenile criminal matters), as well as four regional Staatsanwaltschaften (Berner Jura-Seeland, Emmental-Oberaargau, Bern-Mittelland, and Oberland).
