Your contribution

• Lead and coordinate the armed forces relations of the Armee/Gruppe Verteidigung within the thematic portfolio
• Analyze developments at the international level with a view to your own portfolio, particularly in the areas of security policy developments, situational developments, armed forces development; develop and represent corresponding decision-making bases within and outside the Federal Administration
• Be responsible for steering the international contacts of the Armee/Gruppe Verteidigung (incl. annual planning INTAKTA, authorization processes and reporting); decide on conflicts of interest at the Armee/Gruppe Verteidigung level within your own portfolio or prepare bases so that the higher level can decide
• Conduct negotiations with foreign partners as well as within the Federal Administration within the framework of the international contacts of the Armee/Gruppe Verteidigung in your own portfolio
• Maintain relationships with stakeholders in the Armee/Gruppe Verteidigung, with SEPOS, with EDA, as well as with foreign representations in Switzerland (notably defense attachés); maintain other assignments within the application area of your own portfolio

What makes you unique

• Completed university degree in international relations, law, political science, history or economics (Master or equivalent)
• Additional training in international relations desired
• In-depth knowledge of the functioning of the Armeestab, particularly army planning and/or army development desired
• Analytical and editorial skills, networked thinking skills as well as high resilience, precise working style, independence and sense of responsibility
• Military further training (staff officer or unit commander) is an advantage
• Very good active knowledge of a second official language as well as very good written and spoken English; passive knowledge of a third official language is an advantage

Der Armeestab (A Stab) supports the Chef der Armee in the leadership of the Departementsbereich Verteidigung and is responsible for the overall military planning and development of the Schweizer Armee. Here, in accordance with political specifications, the strategic foundations, the armed forces development and the army and armament planning are developed and tasks in the international security context are performed. The leadership, steering and coordination of all cross-sectional areas (personnel, finance, real estate) also fall within the responsibility of the Armeestab.
